This area of the valley was once the Wild West and many of its film stars are buried there. In 1903, a group of people gathered to build a church in Chatsworth. They used volunteer labor, and a cornerstone was laid on November 12, 1903. The church was called the Pioneer Church. Limekiln Canyon Park in Porter Ranch

In Porter Ranch, the quaint northern section of San Fernando Valley, there are a variety of parks that offer hiking and walking trails. Many of these also host community events. One popular park is Limekiln Canyon Park, which offers a wide variety of things to do. In addition to a year-round creek, this park has plenty of picnic areas, workout equipment, and two community rock gardens. The first of these is situated alongside a patch of Narrowleaf Milkweed to encourage monarch butterfly conservation and features a number of painted rocks. As you walk further down the trail, the paved road and suburban bustle of Porter Ranch begins to fade away.
